"Traces of Texas" (on Facebook) reader Gladys Dillard sent in this awesome portrait of her grandfather, Lige Carter. He was trail boss of the Three Circle Ranch, location unknown to Gladys. Lige was born in Cherokee County, Texas in 1856 and killed in Magdalena, NM in 1912. Gladys did not say why he was killed.
